Keurig B40 and the Senseo HD Deluxe 7810
The one cup coffee brewing systems have greatly increased in popularity. Users appreciate the convenience of a fresh cup of coffee – with no scorched or burned taste. The brewing speed is another positive as coffee is usually ready in a minute or less. There’s a great variety of brewing systems available and this is a report on two of the most popular.
Senseo HD Deluxe 7810
This single cup brewer has been popular in Europe for some time and over 5 million were sold there. Its brewing system produces a cup of coffee with a smooth, frothy layer on top called crema. Now sold in the US, it uses pre-measured coffee that is packaged in paper discs, called a pod. The machine comes with 2 different sized pod holders: a shallow one that holds one pod for one cup of coffee and a deeper one for two pods for two cups. Some coffee drinkers who like a strong cup of coffee use the larger pod holder and two pods to make one cup.
The removable 20 ounce water reservoir will make 5 small cups of coffee. Brewing time is one minute. The main complaints about the Senseo machine concern the quality of the coffee itself. Some say it tastes "weak", "stale", or "bitter". Coffee in Senseo pods is made by Douwe Egberts but some coffee drinkers have tried Melitta or Aloha Island pods and are happier with the results.
Keurig Elite B40

There are several different models of single cup brewing machines made by Keurig and they are all rated tops in durability and reliability. The brewing systems are identical so the only differences are in the size of the water reservoir and how many cups can be brewed before it must be refilled. The B40 is in the middle of the range and it brews an eight ounce or ten ounce cup from a 48 ounce water reservoir. It brews in 30 to 50 seconds and uses vacuum packed coffee in K-Cups.
These little containers look like a coffee creamer and have been developed and patented just for use with the Keurig brewing systems. In all of the ratings, Keurig is Number One for making consistently good coffee. This has to be partially due to the high quality coffee from respected roasters like Green Mountain, Tulleys, Newman’s Own Organic coffee, Timothy’s, Diedrich and Gloria Jean. There are over 200 varieties of coffee and tea in K-Cups as well as Timothy’s White Hot Chocolate and other cocoa brands. So if you like these brands or have a favorite roast from Emeril, the Coffee People, or Caribou Coffee, you’ll find it as well as a great number of flavored blends.

Coffee Makers Keurig And Tassimo
Which of the popular coffee maker pods should you choose? The two most popular options are Keurig coffee makers and Tassimo coffee makers. They provide similar functionality but there are several differences between the two brands that can help you make your decision.
It’s important to note to begin with that you can’t go wrong with either of these two choices. Both companies are very highly rated and the people who buy them are almost always thrilled with their decisions. So the choice between a Keurig and a Tassimo isn’t life or death, it really comes down to personal preferences.
Keurig Coffee Makers
Keurig has at least six different main models that run the gamut in terms of price range and features. The good news is that even the cheapest models, coming in at around $60 or $70 produce the same great coffee in the same quick time as the more expensive models.
The differences lie in style, design and the size of the water reservoir, as well as intended use. For example, they have a model designed specifically as an office coffee maker that is built to be rugged and withstand a constant bombardment of uses.
The coffee maker pods for Keurig are called K Cups. Keurig produces their own wide range of flavors and tastes. In addition, they have partnerships with many popular coffee manufacturers. You can get your Keurig K Cups with Caribou Coffee, Green Mountain, Newman’s Organics, Emeril’s and many others.
Tassimo Coffee Makers

Tassimo has their machines made by both Bosch and Braun. There are less total models available and while there are cheap options, on the whole they are a bit more expensive than what Keurig offers.
However, they are extraordinarily fast. With a Tassimo you can make your coffee in under a minute from start to finish, offering extreme convenience and ease of use. Another benefit to the Tassimo brand is that their coffee maker pods come in Starbucks coffee flavors. No other pods offer Starbucks, so if you’re a fiend for them and want to indulge at your home or office, than it makes sense to go and get a Tassimo.
The bottom line is that both Keurig coffee makers and Tassimo coffee makers are extremely easy to use and produce great coffee. With Keurig you will have more choices in terms of the coffee that is available and the models. With Tassimo you will be able to enjoy Starbucks coffee in less than a minute. Both brands are popular and loved by those who use them.

Keurig Coffee Makers
I have the Tassimo. Its similar to the Keurig machine, but i feel like it has more selections and better brands of coffee to use. It uses T-discs.
Tassimo machine Sources
Overall, the coffee seems stronger than what the keurig typically brews. This system seems to have a better extraction method, and of course the bar-coded discs allow for variety.

Q:Which is better, the Tassimo Brewing System or the Keurig? I know the Tassimo the 169.99 model has a water filter. However it looks cheap to me.
Keurig and Green Mountain

More people are forgoing their morning stop at the coffee corner for that $4.00 cup of Java and are starting to brew coffee at home. It’s having an effect, too, as with more layoffs, there are less people on the road commuting and going to specialty shops for their caffeine fix. Just take a look at Starbuck’s downward plunging stocks. Its sales are down and it even made the investment gurus’, the Motley Fool’s list of the 10 Worst Stocks of the Year! With the new improved single cup brewers, you can have a great cup of gourmet coffee for less than a dollar. Keurig is the market leader in single cup brewing and its coffee makers are rated #1 in durability and reliability. Plus, they consistently produce a great cup of coffee. In the last quarter of 2008, Keurig sold over 711,000 coffee brewers, a 121% growth rate.
All of the Keurig brewers use K-Cups, small containers of exact portions of vacuum packed coffee. Green Mountain Roasters acquired Keurig in 2006, turning a courtship of several years into a marriage. During the last quarter of 2008, over 357 million K-Cups were sold, which was an increase of 55%. The K-Cups are patented and contain gourmet coffee from respected names like Newman’s Own Organic, Timothy’s, Tulley’s, Emeril, Gloria Jean, Caribou Coffee, Green Mountain Roasters, the Coffee People, and several others.
Americans love their coffee and they also love convenience. The National Coffee Association says 55% of American adults consume coffee daily. Plus they want a GOOD cup of coffee and it’s anticipated that there will be a 17% growth in the daily consumption of gourmet blends, according to SmallCapInvestor.com at www.smallcapinvestor.com. American’s love of convenience and coffee has been a boon for Green Mountain Roasters and their stock is rising – as Starbuck’s is falling. Green Mountain made the Top 10 List of the Market’s Best Stocks and the company recently purchased Tulley’s Coffee of Seattle. Primarily a New England company, this purchase will give Green Mountain a West Coast base and a starting point for further expansion.
Green Mountain has introduced the K-Cups into several grocery chains and plans to soon add more. Supermarkets that carried the K-Cups as part of their specialty coffee selection experienced more than twice the growth in dollar sales of the national average for gourmet coffee. The single cup category allows grocers to supplement their packaged coffees and participate in the ‘by the cup business’ traditionally taken by the higher end gourmet shops. The specialty coffees in K-Cups have sparked grocery sales, invigorating the coffee aisle with fresh gourmet selections for customers. The winning combination of the Keurig Single Cup Brewers and the K-Cups gives consumers an economical way to bring the specialty coffee house experience into the home.
